The company Sony is responsible for creating and manufacturing one of the most popular video game networks on the market today; PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable. The system of networks also features thousands of video games produced and sold during its history. As the PlayStation brand continues to grow in popularity, Sony has begun naming some of their games Greatest Hits.

Sony has created a list for every console, even PlayStation 3, even though it has not been on the market as long as the other products. Here we will provide you with some of the most popular Greatest Hits games from each PlayStation console, including PlayStation Portable. The Greatest Hits idea came about with the first PlayStation and the original requirements said that the game had to have sold 150,000 copies after being on the market for one year. The minimum sales requirements rose to 250,000 and then to 400,000 for PlayStation 2 games after being on the market for at least nine months. The year 2006 saw the program extended to PlayStation Portable and the requirements were that the game had to sell 250,000 copies after being on the market for nine months. At the end of July in 2008 the program came to PlayStation 3, the requirements call for the sale of 500,000 copies, and the game must be on the market for at least 10 months.
