I have a 20g harddrive with my stock 360. Can i use a 320g sata laptop drive to replace it?

  1. Unfortunately, no. The drives the 360 use have customized firmware in them to prevent you from doing what you propose.

    If you want a larger hard drive you have to buy one of the ones specifically for the 360. This currently means spending $99 for the 60GB or $149 for the 120GB model.

    Quite the ripoff if you ask me, but what can you do? At least the 60GB model comes with a headset and a 3month Live subscription card.

  2. I don’t think so. The notebook hard drive and Xbox 360 hard drive are shaped differently. I’m sure they also connect differently. I think only the PS3 has user-upgradable hard drives so far. Sorry.

  3. NO!, the only upgrade you can do your self is thew 120GB and that has to be a 120GB Western Diditial drive (not any WD SATA her is a specific model) and then that had to be hacked using a pc, its a big process, if your handy with computers its fairly easy to do but time consuming
